Putnam Mathematics Competition WHAT IS PUTNAM? The William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition is a nationwide undergraduate intercollegiate mathematics competition that has been running since 1938. The exam consists of two written rounds, administered in Boyd in the morning and the afternoon. Each round runs for 3 hours and consists of 6 highly challenging (proof-based) problems. Math Majors Win Athlete Award One of the many reasons we're proud of our math majors: both winners of this year's Joel Eaves Scholar Athlete Award are math majors. University of Georgia women's golfer Caterina Don and men's cross country and track and field runner Nicolas Fontova have been named recipients of the 2022-23 Joel Eaves Scholar-Athlete Award.
