Department Math Placement Exam (DMAT)

UGA Mathematics Exemption Test

Cost: $30.00

Scoring

Students who score between 12 and 15 will receive immediate MATH 1101 exemption (Mathematical Modeling) and may enroll in MATH 1113 (Pre-calculus).

Students who score 16 or higher will receive immediate MATH 1113 exemption and may begin their University studies with MATH 2200 or MATH 2250 (Differential Calculus).

No course CREDIT is given for exempted courses, however exemption of MATH 1113 or MATH 1101 may satisfy Core and/or Degree requirements.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Please be advised that you will not be allowed to exempt a course via the DMAT that you are, or previously have been, registered for at UGA. (In particular, you cannot withdraw from the course once it's begun and then take the exam.) Students who have taken MATH 1101 are, however, permitted to take the DMAT to try to exempt MATH 1113.

What to expect

  • The DMAT may only be taken once. You must be a UGA student to register for this exam.
  • The test is 26 multiple choice questions, no calculator is allowed.
  • Test Length- 1 hour

**Exams are scored on Tuesday's. Once scored, it may take up to one week for scores to be posted to Athena.

Once posted to Athens you may access your score:

  • Visit the Athena website at athena.uga.edu.
  • Log in using your MyID and password.
  • Click on the middle “Student” tab.
  • Click on the second link for “Student Records.”
  • Click on the final link for “View Test Scores.”

If you are unable to access your scores from your Athena Account, click through to the Placement Score Request form.
