How to Apply

The deadline for Fall admission with full consideration for all possible financial aid is January 1. Applications completed after that date will still be considered for admission but will miss some financial aid opportunities. The department normally does not admit students for Spring semester, as both our assistantship budget and our program of courses are geared toward Fall admissions.

The General GRE and Math Subject GRE scores are no longer required.

All our PhD students receive 5 years of full financial support. Applied Math alert!  We currently have several generous grant-funded research assistantships (no teaching assistantship duties) available on a competitive basis for excellent PhD students committed to working in applied mathematics.

To apply for admission, please send the following items to the appropriate location:

Submit the following supplemental form to the Department of Mathematics:

(Please note: We will only consider applicants that apply both through UGA's Grad School and submit the form above. If you're unable to access this form, please email Math Graduate Advising and Admission to let us know before 12/18 )

Submit the following with your online application to the Graduate School:

  • 1 unofficial copy of transcripts (Graduate School instructions)
  • Statement of Purpose (include your name)
  • Official TOEFL or IELTS scores (for international students)
  • Three letters of Recommendation - electronic submission after application completion
  • List of college math courses, grades received, textbook used (if known), and overall math GPA (see instructions)
