The Department of Mathematics of the University of Georgia is a vibrant mathematical community and is one of the largest departments at UGA in UGA's Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. It is located in Boyd Research and Education Center which is situated adjacent to the Science Library on UGA's south campus. The department currently holds a $2,000,000 NSF Research Training Group grant (2014-2019) providing financial support for graduate students, and stimulating research and teaching collaborations among the math faculty, postdoctoral associates, graduate students, and undergraduates. Our department was one of only a dozen mathematics and statistics departments nationwide to receive a second an NSF VIGRE grant (2008-2013). We are noted for the friendliness of our faculty, staff and students, and for our flexibility in adapting programs to the needs of each individual student. The department has particularly active research groups in algebra, algebraic geometry, analysis, applied mathematics, geometry, number theory, and topology. Visitors and Alumni are always welcome. Please drop in if you are in town, or plan a trip to come see us.
