Upcoming Events
Professor Andrea Bertozzi, Director of
Applied Mathematics at UCLA.
The Georgia Scientific Computing Symposium will be held on Feb. 25, 2012. This will be the fourth annual symposium bringing together people in mathematics and computer science from around Georgia to discuss effective and efficient methods for large scale computations. See http://www.math.uga.edu/~was/ for details.
The Southeast Geometry Conference will be held March 17-18, 2012 at the College of Charleston. This is an annual event that rotates between UGA, The College of Charleston, and the University of South Carolina.
18th Annual Cantrell Lectures will be held on April 25, 26, and 27 of 2012. The speaker will be Professor Andrea Bertozzi, Director of Applied Mathematics at UCLA. The Cantrell lectures are the showcase series of mathematics lectures at UGA. Please watch http://www.math.uga.edu/seminars_conferences/cantrell.html for further information.
The UGA VIGRE Algebraic Geometry Summer School and Varley Fest will take place in May of 2012. The first week of the Summer School (May 20 -25) will cover topics on curves, abelian varieties and their moduli, while the second week (May 28 – June 2) will cover topics in Hodge theory, cycles, and mirror symmetry. At the center of the summer school (May 25 - May 28) we will have a conference, Varley Fest, in honor of Robert Varley’s 60th birthday. For more details see http://www.math.uga.edu/~dkrashen/agssp/
2012 Georgia Topology Conference will be held May 9-13, 2012. The conference will focus on 3- and 4-dimensional topology. The Georgia Topology Conference is an annual event since 1961. Information about previous conferences can be found at http://www.math.uga.edu/~topology/.
